10 Barrels Produced (150 Cases)!
Winemaker: Bastien Leduc
Tasting Notes: This easy-drinking full-bodied Zinfandel is balanced and elegant, with bright acidity and slight black pepper notes. Ripe dark cherry, black tea, and brown sugar on the palate with cocoa on the finish.
Vineyard: Zinfandel is a thin-skinned grape, prone to suffering in intense summer heat. However, the varietal is successful on Seven Oxen’s hilltop vineyard due to its exposure to cooling afternoon breezes from the windy Templeton Gap. Our Zinfandel is intentionally harvested slightly earlier in the season than most of our neighbors to ensure bright acidity and avoid jamminess.
Winemaking: Our Zinfandel was hand harvested, destemmed, and then fermented in open top fermenters for approximately 15 days, with daily punchdowns twice daily and then once daily until fermentation was complete. The 2018 lots of Zinfandel were aged for approximately 18 months in 100% neutral French oak barrels.
ABV: 15.5%
