FROM THE WINERY:
In Boada de Roa, in the heart of Ribera del Duero, where winery Viyuela has planted its red and yellow Spanish flag, the region’s extreme temperatures — very long winters and blazing hot summers, plus long periods of drought — do wonders for the ubiquitous Tempranillo, the queen grape of this region.
This winery is well-known for stamping their wines with a strong taste sense for the climate, the land and its winemakers, and the exceptional character of this Tempranillo Crianza (a wine aged for at least two years) has earned all its blue ribbons and many awards of distinction.
SOARING aromatics come straight out the bottle, with plum notes around cassis and blackberry, along with freshly cracked black pepper, toasted herbs, sweet vanilla, and violets. The palate is fresh, ripe, and lively with juicy acidity, underpinning sweet tannins and gentle oak spices. World-class juice that sits somewhere hypothetically between a classic Napa red and a Right Bank Bordeaux, yet with a uniquely Spanish flare. With RIBS, be it pork, beef, or lamb, or anything else on the grill really, this will please immensely. Given what we have it for, it’s a no regrets, drink every day kind of red.
